I am a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP).
The gift of high sensitivity brings a lot of beauty and depth to life, but also a lot of difficulties, exhaustion, misunderstanding, and overall challenges in everyday situations. The world and people are often too much for us. Sometimes it's maddening, and we feel like we're useless and completely alone in it all. Learning to live happily and freely as a "sensitive person" in this noisy, overwhelming, and not very sensitive world, is not easy. I am still struggling through my thorny path, but learning the psychology behind how my sensitive inner self works makes it a lot easier.
There are quite a few professional books and interviews on this topic. I am not an expert or a psychologist, just a girl who experiences it all firsthand, literally. And so it seems to me that writing about this topic from the perspective of someone who knows exactly what it's like is a good way to show people how our sensitive world works, and to make the sensitive ones feel more seen and understood.
Because we are here among you, and we want to belong and build relationships, but we often feel left out
and don't know how to make connections and explain our sensitivity to you.
And that's why I want to share my perception of the world with you.
